Analysis and development of high-precision w-band frequency synthesizer with low spur levels

For millimeter waves applications in the W-band 93.5-95.5 GHz, improved frequency synthesizers are highly demanded. Improved synthesizer should be tunable with high step resolution and possess phase noise performance, low spurious harmonic levels short locking time. These parameters conflicting developing a precision oscillator pure spectrum. Therefore, it's necessary to make compromisation between them. In this paper we present based on Gunn diode, two stable finely tuned sources, locked loop, 10th order subharmonic mixer feedback loop is built. The noise, levels, tuning size of generator then analyzed, effect each parameter others introduced. To test performance proposed using spectrum analyzer, output intermediate was measured mixer, which corresponds phase-locked generator. results show that can steps less than 1 Hz, first harmonics far from fundamental harmonic. used for designing an enhanced level such as CW RADAR.
